Halloween Magic is Coming to The Blue Pool!
We are so excited to be working with The Blue Pool this October half term, bringing Dorset Wild Ones along for a whole week of magical, messy and creative Halloween workshops!
From Saturday 24th to Saturday 31st October, we’ll be joining the Halloween fun at this beautiful and atmospheric nature reserve in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck.
And what better place for a Halloween adventure?
Set within the 300-acre Furzebrook Estate, The Blue Pool is a truly magical place to explore, with woodland trails, wildlife, hidden enchanted doors, scenic viewpoints and the UK’s longest rope bridge.
A whole day of Halloween adventure
Come along for a Wild Ones workshop and make a day of it at The Blue Pool.
Explore the woodland and search for the Trail of Enchanted Doors, discover magical characters hidden amongst the trees, enjoy the children’s play area and see what wildlife you can spot along the way.
Brave the UK’s longest rope bridge, stretching 50 metres through the treetops, and take in the views across the nature reserve from above.
You might even time your visit to meet the resident Iron Age pigs at their daily feeding session!
Then, after all that exploring, there’s the beautiful Art Deco Tearooms, dating back to the 1930s, where you can stop for lunch, cake, a hot drink or one of their famous cream teas.

Get creative with Wild Ones
We’ll be running a packed programme of Halloween workshops throughout the week, with activities changing throughout the day.
There’s something for every little witch, wizard, monster and maker:
- Broomstick Making
Create your very own magical broomstick using natural materials. - Clay Monsters
Get your hands messy and sculpt a wonderfully weird Halloween monster. - Potion Workshop & Slime Making
Mix, stir and experiment with magical ingredients before getting stuck into some seriously satisfying slime. - Spooky Lanterns
Create a spooky lantern to take home and light up those dark autumn evenings. - Sock Monsters
Turn an ordinary sock into a brilliant little monster with a personality of its own. - Wand Making
Every witch and wizard needs a wand! Create and decorate your own magical spell-casting companion. - Halloween Wreaths
Make a spooky seasonal wreath using a mixture of natural and decorative materials. - Needle Felt a Pumpkin
Try your hand at needle felting and create your own little autumn pumpkin. - Pom-Pom Halloween Animals
Make a fluffy Halloween creature to take home.
The full timetable runs across 24–31 October, with different workshops available throughout the week.
And there’s even more Halloween fun…
The Blue Pool is also hosting its Halloween Haunt from 24th–31st October, with a haunted woodland trail, eerie clues, pumpkin carving and Halloween activities. The experience is designed as family-friendly spooky fun without jump scares, making it suitable for little monsters as well as bigger ones.
So you could spend the day exploring the woodland, tackling the Halloween trail, crossing the rope bridge, enjoying the play area, grabbing something delicious in the Tearooms and getting creative with Wild Ones.
That’s a pretty brilliant October half-term day out!
